Tour Itinerary

Day 01 - Arrive Delhi: Upon arrival in Delhi you will be received by our friendly and professional staff and taken to your hotel.

Day 02: Delhi After a relaxed morning we visit the sights of New Delhi including "Raj" buildings of Lutyens and Baker, the Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal. In the evening a dinner in ethnic setting has been arranged.

Day 03: Jaipur This morning we visit the busy bazaars of Old Delhi as well as Jamia Masjid, the largest mosque on India, and Rajghat - the "samadhi" of Mahatama Gandhi. Later we drive to Jaipur for 02 nights at one of the heritage hotels.

Day 04: Jaipur A morning excursion to the hilltop Amber fort, climbed on caparisoned elephants, is arranged. We visit a small factory of hand printed fabrics on our return. The afternoon sightseeing includes the Palace of winds, Jantar Mantar, the City Palace, the museum and the colorful bazaars of Jaipur, considered a shopper's paradise. A local family for a traditional meal at their residence invites us this evening.

Day 05: Ranthambhore A morning drive takes us to Ranthambhore, home to the tiger, leopard, jungle cat, antelope, crocodile and a variety of birds. Stay at a jungle resort. In the afternoon we enjoy a game drive, seeking the elusive tiger in the open forest.

Day 06: Peharsar (Bharatpur) Early morning another game drive has been arranged. We later drive to Peharasar, a typical Rajasthani village to see rural India at close quarters - bullock carts, artisans at work, mud houses, women congregating near wells, men tilling land, the elderly smoking "hookahs", curious children trailing you - an unhurried existence. Our stay has been arranged at the elegant Chandra Mahal Haveli. The afternoon is free to explore the village.

Day 07: Agra An early start brings us to Bharatpur, 15 miles away. Rated as one of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world, Bharatpur has over 300 species of birds. We visit the sanctuary on cycle-rickshaws before driving to nearby Fatehpur Sikri to see the deserted capital of Emperor Akbar. A short drive brings us to Agra for a night's stay one of the deluxe modern hotels.

Day 08: Agra The morning city sightseeing includes the poetry in marble - the Taj Mahal and the Agra fort. We enjoy afternoon tea in a setting overlooking the Taj Mahal.

Day 09: Khajuraho Today we savor a characteristically Indian experience, a short and exciting train ride in air-conditioned comfort to Jhansi. Lunch has been arranged at Orchha resorts, overlooking the Betwa River. Orchha is dotted with temples and palaces, of Bundela kings. We visit these and drive on to Khajuraho. Stay for 02 nights at a very nice hotel here.

Day 10: Khajuraho We visit the famous Chandela dynasty temples in the morning. Built between 950 and 1050 AD these are known for their erotic sculptures. The afternoon is free to take in the rustic charm of Khajuraho. In the evening we enjoy a Son et Lumiere at the temples.

Day 11: Varanasi A short flight at midday brings us to Varanasi, the holy city of Hindus. Varanasi, contemporary with Niniveh and Thebes, is today one of the oldest living city of the world. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel for overnight stay. The afternoon is free with the option of a visit to Sarnath, the site of Buddha's first sermon. In the evening we enjoy a cycle-rickshaw ride to the Ganges to witness the ceremonial worship or "aarti" on the riverbanks.

Day 12: Kathmandu Early this morning we enjoy a boat-ride on the Ganges to see devotees at prayer along the "ghats" or riverbanks. Later we fly to the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal for 03 nights at the luxury Yak & Yeti Hotel or The Malla Hotel.

Day 13: Kathmandu This morning is spent exploring the Darbar Square, visiting Swayambhunth, one of the oldest Buddhist temples and Kastha Mandap, the wooden temple from where Kathmandu derives its name. In the afternoon we visit Patan to see the three-storey gold pagoda and the Tibetan Handicrafts Centre.

Day 14: Kathmandu Today there is an excursion to Bhadgaon, one of the ancient capitals of Nepal, housing the Golden Gate and the five storey Nyatapola pagoda. We also visit Pashupatinath and Boudhnath.

Day 14: Depart Delhi Fly out
