Tiger and Bird Tour
The focus of this tour is on enjoying some of India's bird and mammal life at two of its top wildlife-watching venues. One of India's most beautiful reserves, Ranthambore came to the world's attention when it became one of the original nine designated 'Project Tiger' reserves in 1973.
Located in a remote area of rural Rajasthan, Ranthambore Tiger Reserve can be reached with relative ease by train from Delhi. Recent Naturetrek groups visiting the Reserve have enjoyed outstanding Tiger and wildlife sightings.
Similarly, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, arguably the most outstanding birdwatching location in Asia. Bharatpur hosts many species of migrant waterbirds from Siberia and northern Asia, as well as a wide range of other animals, including Large Rock Pythons – often seen sunning themselves at Python Point, and mammals such as Sambar, otters and the rare Fishing Cat. During the monsoon season large numbers of storks and herons nest in the marshes, their numbers augmenting the thousands of winter visitors each autumn.
